Pennsylvania Railroad Gilbert Regulator Clock

We love clocks, and this is a great one! Made by Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co., Winsted, Conn., this old Pennsylvania Railroad clock is in excellent working condition. Short-drop octagon time pieces were frequently used by the railroads in locations where accurate time pieces were not needed. The oak finish is original. The PRR keystone logo is on the face of the clock. The paper face is dark from age, but perfectly readable. We were told that PRR did not use clocks with Roman numbers, only Arabic. This is incorrect, several railroads used clocks with Roman numerals. There is currently a Pennsylvania Railroad clock with Roman numerals in the NAWCC Museum. The trim is brass, and has been cleaned as well as possible, but does show wear. The brass rosettes around the clock face were replaced some time ago, and are very close in shape & style to the original ones. We still have the original ones, but they are not a complete set. The pendulum & bob appear old, but we're not 100% sure it's original. The measurements are 26 3/4" long, and 16 3/4" wide at the widest section. This is one very nice clock. It has a very mellow, homey "tick". A superb railroad collectible that you shouldn't be without!
