Rio Grande Western Railway Claredon Pattern Luncheon Knife
This is a luncheon size serrated knife manufactured by Reed & Barton for the Rio Grande Western Railway. It is the Claredon pattern, with the diamond logo on the side of the handle, which reads “The Rio Grande Western Railway, Great Salt Lake Route.” The blade is marked “Reed & Barton.” The knife is in fair condition, with overall pitting on the blade, and some edge chipping on the bottom serrated edge. There are also heavy use marks on the handle. Dimensions of the luncheon knife are: 7 1/2" long, and the handle is 6/8" wide. The RGW Railway Company was formed on May 16th, 1889, as a consolidation of the D&RGW Railway (the Utah Lines of the D&RG) and the State Line & Denver Railway, and it ran until 1908. This is an unusual RGW dining car flatware piece, and still a great addition to make to your RGW Railway collection.
