1890's Dr. Swett's "Pride of Newark" Tin Root Beer Sign
A very collectible and attractive advertising sign from the 1890's. This is the "Pride of Newark" sign. It is tin with rolled corners and a dark green background. It features the portrait of a young woman with flowing brown/gold hair and a red hair ribbon. There is one 1" x 1" scuff in the paint on her chest which appears as a white mark, and the lower edge below the portrait has been touched up by a previous owner. The green paint matches very well. There is slight flaking to the green paint around "Dr. Swett's The Original Root Beer." There are a few tiny scuffs in the surface here and there due to age which are not noticeable. Dimensions of the sign are: 14 1/2" tall & 14 1/2" wide. This great advertising piece is hard to find and is in excellent condition for its age. It would be a very fine addition to an advertising or general store collection!
