Victorian Bradley & Hubbard Cranberry Inverted Thumb Print Hanging Parlor Lamp
A quite elegant and showy Victorian hanging parlor lamp manufactured by Bradley & Hubbard. It has a brass urn shaped font, with curled brass arms, smoke bell, winder with ceiling cap, and brass crown and shade ring. It has been polished by hand and clear coated to retard tarnish, and has been electrified. The person who electrified it drilled a small hole in the font under one of the arms, but it doesn't show (see picture). The 14" cranberry inverted thumb print ("Bull's-eye") shade is in perfect condition, no chips, cracks, or flea bites, and has a smooth (twice fired) rim. There is a small glass bubble on one side of the shade, and a few firing bubbles on the rim from the factory. It shows a beautiful cranberry pattern on the ceiling at night. There are 44 clear prisms, two of which hang from the medallions on the chains. The winder is marked B&H, as is the brass fill cap. The patent dates, Dec. 31, 1895 and Feb. 28, 1900, are found around the top of the brass burner. There are two floral applied pieces on each side of the shade ring and a band around the center of the font made form either nickel or spelter. The dimensions of the hanging lamp frame are: 17 3/4" wide and 4" long. This beauty would be eye-catching in a bay window or over a dining table. An exceptional lamp. . . all ready for your home!
