Set-2 Kerosene Model T - Carriage Lamps
We recently acquired this set of wonderful lamps from the estate of the first museum curator for the Delta County Museum in Delta, Colorado. The majority of the items stored in her home were pieces for possible use in the museum, and her own collection. This set of carriage or Model T lamps are marked "Edmunds & Jones Corp., Detroit, Mich. USA" on the top of each, and the bottoms are marked "E&J No. 3-414", with two patent dates of "May 26 -14", and "June 23 - 14" in the center. The clear lenses are marked "Jefferson" on the edge. Each lamp is identical to the other and in near mint original condition, even down to the wicks! The twist off bottoms are stiff and hard to remove since they were never used! There is slight surface chipping in the black enamel finish, more one than the other, but very minor and hardly noticeable (see picture). The dimensions of the lamps are; 9" tall, and 5 ½" deep, and the lenses are 4 ½" in diameter. We understand from research, these side lamps were used on carriages and Model T cars from 1915 to 1926. They could even be used on a wall as sconces together for a fun display....and useful, too!
